Casey in new movie Too Big to Fail

Casey has announced on his Forum here that he will be appearing in the HBO film 'Too Big to Fail' next year.  It's written by New York Times reporter Andrew Ross Sorkin, and has a fantastic cast that includes William Hurt, James Woods, Bill Pullman, and Tony Shalhoub (Monk).  Its the story of the 2008 Wall Street meltdown that caused the current global financial crisis.  Look out for it in Spring 2011.  There's a casey too big to fail ebb forum topic and you can read about it on the EBB Facebook page here too.

Vaughn's Project 420 web series now online

Vaughn's eagerly awaited web series (the one with the moustache) can now been watched online on YouTube here.  It chronicles the exploits of narcotic scientists working covertly under a dying CIA program developed during the 1950s.  It is quirky, irreverent and very funny.  The series is eight episodes around five minutes each, so I just watched it all in one go, and loved it!  It is laugh out loud stuff, so if you like the subject matter, I definitely recommend checking it out.  You can ask Vaughn or talk about it on its EBB Forum topic here, or comment on the EBB Facebook page.  I say bring on Series 2!!

Casey's Forum Extra Security

Cindy has had to add extra security to Casey's forum to prevent the spammers from taking over.  It was a choice between that and taking it down completely so I am sure we are all very grateful for her persistence there.  You should have received an email from her with instructions how to proceed.  It only take a moment to register the extra step and it looks so shiny and clean there now it is worth it.  Thanks again Cindy for all your hard work over there!

(News updated 07 August 2010)

EBB Facebook questions

I will be posting regular questions on the EBB Facebook site to help get to know more about the International Family that has formed there since January 2010.  Did you know we now have Fans from 19 different countries?  How cool is that?  If anyone has any suggestions for questions to ask, post them on the EBB Forum Facebook topic here.

EBB Family reunited

Whatever you do, don't mention the Football World Cup.  Germany have fared much better than England but the heartbreak is the same.  As far as I know, we don't have any Dutch or Spanish Family members still in with a shout of winning, so we could commiserate each other or focus on third place on the forum topic here.

(News updated 9 July 2010)

EBB Family temporarily divided

Due to the draw of the Football World Cup, major elements of the EBB Family are temporarily wanting different things from life.  Germany, USA, and England are all through (sorry Andrea and Italy) and playing this weekend.

EBB website turns five!

This website www.ebluesband.com will celebrate it's five year anniversary next month!  On 24 May 2005, the Amazing Diane  (to give her her full title) built this site for the Band to support them and serve their fans gained from the release of The Enterprise Blues Band Experience first CD.

She magicked the Forum in to life that October, and this virtual Family has grown together ever since... These are just some of my favourite memories of the last five years.

Together we have laughed and cried and partied and danced and drank and fallen over and become secret agents; we have photographed  feet and fridges and holidays and costumes and Indiana Jones lego displays and Axolotls and dogs and cats and horses; we have studied physics and planets and computer graphics and passed exams and gained degrees ; we have got engaged and got married and lost loved ones and bought houses; we have had scary bycycle accidents; we have travelled the world together and on our own and shared it all; we have blown up lots of balloons and made Borg regeneration chambers and Enterprise bridges in sheds; we have made turkey soup; we have paddled in the Pacific; we have been in TV shows and films and plays and conventions and choreographed Broadway and West End stunt fights; we have dined out and dined in and told bad jokes; we have learned what smegma is and hen partied across continents; we have complained about rhino spam; we have bought and lost out on ebay stuff; we have made videos; we have howled with disappointment when conventions got cancelled; we have comforted and supported each other through hardships, grief, stress, separations, embarrassing balloon chasing or yoghurt mishaps, and we have been FAMILY.

I'm proud to be related to each and every one of you.  If you want to share your own best and strongest memories of the last five years, there is an EBB Forum topic here.

EBB at Vegas is official!

It's official!  Creation have now posted on their Star Trek convention website that the Enterprise Blues Band will be performing at Vegas!  The fantastic news is that they'll be the entertainment at the Saturday Night Dessert Party, the biggest night of the con!  Tickets are only available to Gold and Captains Chair ticket holders at the moment, so that's one exclusive party I would love to be at!  Visit the Vegas con events page announcing their gig here or join in the EBB Forum topic here.  Ethan Phillips (Neelix in Star Trek Voyager) will be with them, after his successful guest appearance at LeapBack in March.  And quite correctly, the guys are described by Creation as "the coolest band in the Universe".

Steve's Fighting fit!

Continuing on from where Casey left off, globetrotter Steve also has a Shakespearian theme going at the moment, as he is currently staging fights for a number of the Bard's plays.  Right now he is in Ontario Canada, where Macbeth previews at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival Theatre on 22 May.

Then he's down to San Diego California to work on Twelth Night, Coriolanus, and Cyrano De Bergerac at the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre at the Old Globe, which run from 13 June to the end of September.

Then as we know, on 12 June he flies to Melbourne Australia to stage fights for the extremely popular musical Jersey Boys

And in between all that, he has a guest star role in the new TNT pilot show HawthoRNe, a new medical drama from a nurse's point of view that stars Jada Pinkett Smith (Niobe in Matrix Reloaded) and premieres on 16 June.

I'm tired out just typing all that up!  Wish him luck for the Scottish play and all his work in the EBB forum topic here.

Due to these other commitments, neither Casey nor Steve will now be able to appear with the Band at the Quantum Leap Back convention in Los Angeles between 27 and 29 March.  Vaughn has called in some good friends, Michael Goodrow and Kim Story, to help out to make sure the fans still get the EBB experience and the gig goes ahead.  It won't be the same as he says, but it will still be a blast!  Read about this on the Quantum Leap Back forum topic, or visit the Quantum Leap Back Con website.

All Steve's news

Thanks very much to Steve for sending a great Update on everything he is up to just now.

In a nice coincidence, he will be in Criminal Minds himself in the new year!  His episode will air on 13 January on CBS.  He tells us about his role:

"I play Detective Linden, the lead detective in Sarasota, Florida, where girls aged 17-18 have been kidnapped and ultimately murdered.  The Criminal Minds unit is called in to assist in the profiling of the murderer, or is it murderers?  You will have to watch to find out!"

He also guested in CBS Comedy Worst Week.  It's website says it is a series about Sam Briggs, an entertainment magazine editor who will do anything to please his girlfriend's parents... but instead becomes a one-man wrecking crew whenever he is around them.  Steve has a small role playing a local undertaker in the show!  He recommends checking out the show online at FREE movie and TV video streaming site Hulu.com.  Though unfortunately the site is only accessible in the USA, it looks like a great place for watching all your favourite shows online.  We'll get the episode details so those over the pond can view it and review it for the rest of us!

In January, Steve will be on Broadway, staging the stunt fights in the revival of the classic musical Guys and Dolls at the Nederlander Theatre, New York.  The show previews from 3 February, and opens 1 March.  There is limited information at the moment, but I did find this New York Times article.

Finally, as you know Steve is also the Fight Director for hit musical Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.  The show is moving in to Toronto, Canada in December.  Next June, Steve will be taking a trip down under to Melbourne, Australia to start the show in Sydney!  The EBB gets around, does it not?

He's clearly a busy man and so we are very happy for him!  Talk about all his Worst Week/Criminal Minds TV news on the forum here and about Jersey Boys Australia and Guys and Dolls Broadway here.

Bill back on TV in Cold Case

Bill has just told us the brilliant news today that he will be appearing in an episode of CBS's popular Cold Case TV show!  He will play an emotional scene as the younger brother of a soldier who disappeared on his way to fight in the Korean War, and was dishonourably discharged for going AWOL.  The show is about a group of detectives, led by Lilly Rush (Kathryn Morris) who investigate unsolved murder cases.  The show's Executive Producer is none other than Jerry Bruckheimer, the man behind the fantastic CSI, so it must be good!  Find out more on the Cold Case website and keep an eye here and on the Cold Case forum topic for the air date.

EBB appearance at JumpCon Kalamazoo cancelled

Vaughn has just announced on the forum that the EBB will not be going to the JumpCon con in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 4.  This is part of the re-grouping of the organisers to make sure the events that are left in their Tour schedule are given their full potential.  JumpCon is in discussions with the Band about confirming the other dates, but it may be that they start their tour in late August rather than July now.  We are all disappointed for our American family, but this may be a sensible decision from the organisers to concentrate their time and resources on providing the unique experience they promised at the remaining events.  Talk about this news on the EBB Tour Forum Topic

(News updated later 21 June 2008)

Six JumpCon conventions cancelled

Despite the message that no JumpCon con would ever be cancelled, six of the planned events (where the EBB were playing) from September and October have had to be cancelled.  This is due to lack of hotel room sales in those venues, and the fact they were clashing with other cons.  Also, the JumpCon Atlanta con will not have a science fiction/anime focus, due to it's proximity to DragonCon.  The full explanation is on the new and improved JumpCon website, and the reaction is being discussed on the EBB Tour forum topic.

Vaughn is a Mad Man!

Vaughn announced to our friends at the Star Trek Italian Club convention this last weekend he has landed a guest role in the top US series Mad Men, written and produced by Emmy Award winning Sopranos writer Matthew Weiner.  If you haven't seen the show, it is set in 1960's New York, in the ruthless stylish ego-driven world of Advertising.  Reading about the show, it is an intelligent entertaining portrayal of post-war life and materialism, with the style and scripts that American shows do so well.  Now, can't you just see Vaughn in one of those suits?  More details to follow when known... check out Vaughn's Mad Men forum topic for news!

Bill's French Pez at the Broad Humour Festival...

Through his long time support of female creative talent (one of many reasons why we love him), and his role in Tamar Halpern's Award winning Shelf Life film, Bill was asked at last year's Broad Humour Festival to make a short film for this year's event.  He has made and edited the short film with Tamar, to the specs that it must contain real or fake French, and a Pez.  The festival runs from 13 to 15 June at Venice in California, and Bill's film will be part of their Legacy Shorts program, with a dedicated screening.  Ask Bill about it on the forum or visit the Broad Humour Festival website
